About Me

Hello,

My name is Lorinda Bocardo, and I am your School Counselor. I am so happy to be a part of the Ashbel team and Goose Creek ISD. This is my 8^th year in the district and as a counselor. I have a master's degree in counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I look forward to working with our Jaguars on developing their social and academic skills this year.

How does a student see the Counselor?

Students can see the Elementary Counselor via a self-referral, parental request, and/or teacher or administrative referral. Sessions may be held on a regular, ongoing basis or simply as needed.

Elementary School Counseling Program

The elementary school counselor will use the ASCA National Model which provides a flexible framework to develop a comprehensive program designed to meet students' unique needs.

The four components of delivery for these services are:

School counseling core curriculum Individual student planning Responsive services Indirect student services CHARACTER Developing good character is an on-going process at Ashbel Smith Elementary. We focus on a different character trait each month throughout the school year.

Character Traits

Our character traits are Kindness, Courage, Cooperation, Empathy, Respect, Perseverance, Honesty, Responsibility, Gratitude, Creativity. Each month teachers nominate students within their classrooms to be recognized for exhibiting these character traits. Those nominated by their teacher are recognized at our character lunch at the end of each month.
