About Me

I have been in education for 30 years. I have 22 years of high school teaching experience, plus eight years of counseling experience. I received earned my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Dance from the University of Houston, and my master’s degree in School Counseling from Lamar University. I love working with children, especially my Highlands Hawks. I strive to help them achieve success in all academic areas, as well as in everyday life, and to promote the importance of lifelong learning.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM

The elementary school counselor will use the ASCA National Model which provides a flexible framework to develop a comprehensive program designed to meet students' unique needs.

The 4 components of delivery for these services are:

* School counseling core curriculum

* Individual student planning

* Responsive services

* Indirect student services

CHARACTER

Developing good character is an on-going process at Highlands Elementary. We focus on a different character trait each month throughout the school year. Our character traits are kindness, courage, self-control, forgiveness, respect, diligence, loyalty, honesty, and confidence. Each month teachers nominate students within their classrooms to be recognized for exhibiting these character traits. Those nominated by their teacher are recognized at our Hawk’s Rallies held at the completion of each six weeks.
