Heather Workman

CCMR/Lead Counselor

I currently serve our Ranger students & families as the Lead/College & Career Counselor at Ross S. Sterling High School. I am originally from Illinois, but my family relocated to Baytown in 2012. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree from Eastern Illinois University. I am passionate about helping students see their potential and achieving their goals throughout high school and beyond. Working alongside these students to help them reach that pivotal moment of graduation is as meaningful to me as it is to them.

I am a school counselor at Ross Sterling High School. I was born and raised in Baytown, TX and I am a product of Goose Creek and a former Sterling Ranger. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Master’s in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. It has been a pleasure to have served over 2500 students in Baytown as a teacher and counselor. One of my greatest rewards as a counselor is to be able to see the students walk across the stage and know that as a counselor, I have the pleasure of interacting with every student.

I am the school counselor for the class of 2024 at Ross Sterling High School. I was born and raised in Channelview, TX. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University, and a Master’s in School Counseling and Counseling in Clinical and Mental Health from Lamar University. It has been a joy to have served over 2400 students in Baytown as a teacher and counselor over the years. One of my greatest rewards as a Teacher and Counselor is when I have past students come back and let me know they are doing well and to thank me for all of my help.

I currently have the pleasure to work with the class of 2025. I was born in the Dominican Republic, and raised in New York City (Washington Heights). I earned a BA in Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York, and a Master’s of Science in Counseling with a bi-lingual certification from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. I am currently working on my EdD with a specialization in Instructional Technology at U of H Clearlake. I enjoy working out, the fine arts (praise dancing), attending church, and fellowshipping with family and friends. Truly enjoy what I do and serving the students and families I’ve met over the years while building relationships and community.

I am a proud Ranger, that graduated from Ross S. Sterling in December of 1993. I earned my Associates degree at Lee College, in Baytown. After that, I attended the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where I earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree. I have enjoyed working with students and families over the years and assisting students with their educational goals.

I am a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Before becoming a counselor, I taught English, 11 of those years at Ross S. Sterling High School. My favorite part of being a counselor is talking with students about their postsecondary plans and helping them figure out what those are. I want all my students to graduate from high school as responsible, productive citizens who will strengthen our community. It has been my joy to work with students for over 26 years.
