About Us

Alamo Elementary School, like the landmark after which it is named, has a proud history. Established in Baytown, in 1929, the campus of approximately 789 students is made strong by the tremendous commitment of its teachers, staff members, and parents. "Alamo Aims for Excellence" is the motto of the Eagles who soar toward excellence in their educational pursuits.

 

Our mission and goals...

The entire staff of Alamo Elementary is strongly committed to the belief that each student can and will achieve academically, regardless of previous academic performance, socioeconomic background, family, race, or sex. We accept the responsibility to provide a program which will enable each student to reach the maximum educational potential, while at the same time helping to develop respect for themselves, others, and our country.

 

Our programs and activities...

Alamo is home to students in grades pre-kindergarten through five, with Title 1, life skills, PASS, resource, inclusion, speech therapy, and dyslexia programs designed to meet the needs of every student. The Kiwanis Club serves as Alamo's Partner in Education through the Baytown Chamber of Commerce Program, offering support in many different ways to our children and employees. Alamo is also very proud of its successful PTO and Parent Volunteer Program.

Facts about our school...

Alamo's ethnic breakdown is approximately 28% White, 31% African-American, 39% Hispanic, and 2% Other. The original Alamo School was constructed in 1930 and had modifications in 1956, 1969, 1979, and 2014. Alamo has since moved into a newer building located on North Main St. close to Interstate 10. Alamo's mascot is the Eagle, and school colors are red and white.
