Several Travis Elementary students recently took part in a memorable literacy experience during a special Read Under the Lights event in partnership with the Robert E. Lee High School (REL) boys soccer team.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, participating students received a pack of books to take home, encouraging continued reading and a growing love for literacy beyond the school day. During the event, members of the REL boys soccer team read with students, listened as students practiced their own reading skills, and enthusiastically cheered them on throughout the experience.
The event provided a unique opportunity for students to connect reading with teamwork, encouragement, and fun in an exciting setting. We would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Stromeyer for helping make this opportunity possible.
Read Under the Lights was a wonderful celebration of literacy and community partnership, leaving students with both new books and lasting memories.
Travis Elementary is now a tier 3 school and our hours have changed! Regular school hours for the 2025-2026 school year are 8:40-4:10 p.m. Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:20 a.m. Free breakfast will be served each morning from 8:20-8:40 a.m. with instructional time beginning promptly at 8:40 a.m. We look forward to an amazing school year!
