Travis Tigers Kick Off the Year with First House Rally!
08/22/2025

House Rally 1

The energy in the gym was electric as Travis Elementary held its first House Rally of the school year on Friday, August 22!

New Travis students had the exciting opportunity to be officially sorted into one of our six houses:

  • House of Courage (Red House)

  • House of Cooperation (Green House)

  • House of Respect (Yellow House)

  • House of Responsibility (Pink House)

  • House of Empathy (Purple House)

  • House of Honesty (Blue House)

Each new student received a special envelope with their name on it. When the countdown began—“5, 4, 3, 2, 1!”—they tore open their envelopes to reveal a slip of paper in their new house color. Cheers erupted as students proudly joined their new house families, greeted by teammates ready to welcome them.

After the exciting sorting ceremony, it was time for our Staff House Challenge. Teachers and staff from each house teamed up for a fun balloon competition, using only their heads to keep the balloon in the air. The crowd roared with laughter and encouragement until only one house was left standing. The champions? House of Courage (Red House)!

Next up, it was the students’ turn to shine. Representatives from each house worked in teams of four to take on the same balloon challenge. With determination and teamwork, House of Responsibility (Pink House) claimed the victory for the student round!

To close the rally, our House Headmaster, Ms. Searcy (4th grade teacher), reminded students how they can earn house points throughout the year. She also shared the ultimate goal: winning the House Cup, which will be awarded to one house at the end of the school year.

The rally was filled with cheers, laughter, and school spirit, setting the tone for an amazing year ahead. At Travis Elementary, every student belongs, every student is celebrated, and together we are stronger—one house at a time!

GCCISD Transportation Brings Bus Safety to Life for Our Tigers
08/20/2025

Bus Safety Lesson by GCCISD Transportation Department

On Wednesday, August 20, our students had an exciting and important learning opportunity as the GCCISD Transportation Department visited our campus to teach bus safety. The program gave students a hands-on experience that helped them understand the importance of riding the bus responsibly and safely.

Students learned about proper bus etiquette and the rules that keep everyone safe on the way to and from school. A special guest, the always-silly Buster the Bus, made the lesson engaging and fun for our youngest learners. Students also got the chance to practice how to properly load and unload the buses, as well as how to behave while riding. With 4–5 buses brought to campus, our students had the opportunity to participate in smaller group sizes during this interactive learning experience.

We would like to give a big thank you to our Specials/Fine Arts teachers for assisting with today’s lessons and helping ensure everything ran smoothly. Most importantly, we are deeply grateful to the GCCISD Transportation Department for their commitment to student safety and for providing our Tigers with a real-life learning experience they won’t soon forget.

Safety is always a top priority, and thanks to today’s program, our students are better prepared to ride the bus the right way—safe, respectful, and responsible.
