Agricultural Science Career Academy

Students in the Academy of Agricultural Sciences have two pathways to choose from: Veterinary Assistant or Plant Science. Both pathways provide students with a strong academic foundation with an emphasis on hands-on learning and problem solving. The Veterinary Assistant pathway prepares students to sit for the Certified Veterinary Assistant Exam, offered through the Texas Veterinary Medical Association while students in the Plant Science pathway prepare for the Principles of Floral Design certification offered through the Benz School of Floral Design as well as other certifications in the floral and horticulture industries. Students will be well prepared to enter the workforce and/or continue their post-secondary education to work towards becoming a Veterinary Technician, Veterinarian, Horticulturalist or Florist. Special opportunities include assisting in operating the SCTHS Pet Clinic and Spa, SCTHS Greenhouses, job shadowing and conferences by guest speakers, all of which enhance the student’s experience in the program and provide information about the field of study. Additionally, students can participate in the Stuart FFA Chapter, a Career and Technical Student Organization, dedicated to the advancement of agricultural studies. Students have the opportunity graduate with a Business & Industry Endorsement, a Performance Acknowledgment by earning college credits and industry-based certifications.
