Students in the Maritime Program at Robert E. Lee HS will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in courses specific to the maritime industry. The Maritime Program introduces students to the occupations and education opportunities related to operating water vessels, maintenance procedures, maritime navigational aids, maritime traffic controls, and communications equipment to ensure conformance with federal safety regulations. Students will learn to use state-of-the-art simulation equipment, gain professional certifications, and develop skills to obtain a high paying career in the maritime industry. Students will engage in project-based learning, working with teachers, community partners and industry experts in hands-on experiences. Baytown's close location to the Port of Houston will allow opportunities for students to experience field trips and internships within the maritime industry.
