My role at IMPACT: English Department/Creative Writing, College Transition, and Methods for Academic and Personal Success.
My philosophy about education: Intrinsically, I became a special education teacher because I believed in my heart that every student can learn. As I evolved in my career into teaching varied subjects, my goal was to tailor my teaching style to fit any learner that came into my classroom. I understood, at times, that meant dismissing what I thought I knew, to make room for something new. My earnest desire is to continue to foster an environment where students feel equity, equality, and safety in school.
My work experience: During my 14-year tenure as an educator, I have taught hundreds of students in core classroom subjects such as reading, english, math, science, and social studies as well as life skills and general employability skills with accommodations and modifications. My passion and specialty is differentiated instruction while working with students who have special learning and behavioral needs.
A little something about me: I love what I do! I genuinely enjoy both teaching and learning. I am a first generation college student who was raised in an area of low-socioeconomic statuses and I never let those odds discourage me from pursuing my academic and career goals. I endeavor
