My role at IMPACT:  Academic Dean and Assistant Principal: I work with the Principal and campus staff to ensure the instructional integrity of what we do here at IMPACT. I also supervise on-campus testing, discipline, attendance, and special services for students.

My philosophy about education:  I believe that all students should have equitable access to high-quality first-time instruction, and I believe that a student's experience in elementary and secondary school should prepare them for post-secondary opportunities like college if that is the route they choose. I also firmly believe that the presence of college-going others (teacher role models, mentors, peers) can help students successfully bridge their high school experience with their college one.

My work experience:  This is my 30th year in education: 10 as a college administrator, 17 years as a high school English teacher and department leader, and 3 years as a school/district administrator. I love ENGLISH, and I love talking to students about what they are reading and writing.

A little something about me:  I love to travel, cook, and play golf. I'm not bad at golf - I don't hit the ball far, but I hit it in the fairway just about every time!

What I want you to know about IMPACT ECHS:  The people at IMPACT make IMPACT special! EVERY ONE knows their role in helping students achieve their college-going dreams and aspirations, and we all work to help students reach their goals.

Interesting facts about me:  After living in Russia for almost two years and having a tutor help me with the language, I know just enough Russian to say hello and goodbye, order food at a restaurant, and buy a Metro ticket (plus a few other things!)Purple, of course. Also love some burnt orange (both of my boys graduated from the University of Texas at Austin) and Aggie maroon (to celebrate my doctorate from Texas A&M).I love it when students talk to me about that they are reading and writing.
