How Does Educational Technology Play a Role in Your Classroom?
I love using technology in my classroom to catch the interest of my students. I use it both as an award and a tool. As a 5th grade classroom, we are lucky to have the one to one laptop initiative. This allows students to do research, play educational games, and have a little more control of their learning. We use our promethean board on a daily basis. The students love the interactive lessons we do in class with the board.
How Do You Find Technology in the Classroom Helpful?
Having technology in the classroom is very helpful in many ways. It allows the teacher to differentiate instruction based on students needs. It is another tool the teacher is able to use to add to the variety of the classroom. The more ways a student hears/sees something, the better they will understand it.
What Is Your Favorite Piece of Classroom Technology? Why?
My favorite piece of technology, is our Promethean board. The students and I enjoy using this equipment daily. We are able to find fun interactive lessons to use, watch educational videos, and play educational games. This allows me to engage the students that are visual/tactile learners. The board allows me to lecture and give information to students while also providing an interactive visual for students.
What Is On Your Technology Wish List For Your Classroom? Why?
I would love for my students to have clickers to use in the classroom. Mrs. Brady was able to come to my classroom and use clickers with my students. They loved it and they remembered the material we were working on. This also allowed me to instantly determine which students understood the concept as well as who needed additional support.
What Do You Love Most About Teaching?
Kids! I love working with the kids. Everyday is different and everyday is new. They keep me up to date and on my toes! I am just as much of a kid as they are, so we learn and have fun doing it.
