How Does Educational Technology Play a Role in Your Classroom?
Technology plays a very vital role in my classroom. The students have become teachers as well as active learners. The quietest students now have an active role in the classroom - when otherwise they would not have a voice. Students love to create their projects, show off to the class their accomplishments, and help others troubleshoot and learn.
How Do You Find Technology in the Classroom Helpful?
Technology is very helpful in the classroom. The history department received laptops and the classroom is a one to one environment. The technology has turned my classroom into a successful learner-centered environment. I can differentiate lessons and meet the needs of my students more efficiently.
What Is Your Favorite Piece of Classroom Technology? Why?
I love Google Drive and Web 2.0 tools. These programs are already an active part of the students' lives, so incorporating it in the classroom was flawless. Students are more apt to do homework or projects because they can access these programs from their smart phones or other devices when they are not with me. Watching the creativity grow with the students is such a great experience.
What Is On Your Technology Wish List For Your Classroom? Why?
This current school year, my wish list is fulfilled. Two years ago, I received a grant for Promethean clickers and a Promethean board from the Education Foundation. I also received laptops from the history department. Now we have touch-sensitive Promethean boards, clickers, a document camera, and laptops. I am loving all this technology and can't wait to get my new students on board and just as excited as I am.
What Do You Love Most About Teaching?
cI love the kids. The kids are engaged and active and in turn, it makes my teaching enjoyable. They keep me up to date with technology trends and I try to incorporate those trends into the classroom - education style. The point of teaching is to infuse my passion of history and technology into the students. If I have accomplished this, then I see myself as successful.
