Students using technologyHow Does Educational Technology Play a Role in Your Classroom?
Educational Technology plays an important role in keeping my students engaged. I have so many resources readily available that I am able to differentiate lessons to my students interests. Chemistry is hands on and very visual, and with Ed Tech I can make sure my lessons are interactive in a way that supports understanding.

How Do You Find Technology in the Classroom Helpful?

Not only can I use technology to get real time data and give real time feedback, but I use it to communicate content with students more effectively. If one method doesn't work how I would like, then I am able to express the content through a different mode to help drive the idea. I also love that students are able to express their understanding in a way that works best for them.

What Is Your Favorite Piece of Classroom Technology? Why?
My favorite app has to be Explain Everything. I love the tools, layout, and how it presents full screen on the Promethean. I also love to use Explain Everything when making videos for my students.

What Is On Your Technology Wish List For Your Classroom? Why?
First, I would love for my students to have keyboards for their iPads. Second, it would make my year if everything were wireless and I didn't have to connect my laptop to the Promethean when I share the screen.

What Do You Love Most About Teaching?
I love being there for the students. I think it is the best thing in the world to be able to build relationships with my students and help guide them to reach their full potential. It's also great that I can talk about chemistry all day!

"When you walk into Mrs. Tompkins classroom it is no secret technology is being implemented daily with her regular and AP Chemistry students. Google classroom and WebEx are used efficiently to allow virtual students to actively participate in her lessons right along with the face to face students. Haley keeps all students engaged by using Pear Deck to check for understanding or even introduce new material. Notability is frequently used for taking and sharing notes. Explain Everything is an app she uses when teaching and modeling a new concept. Along with being a great instructor, Haley is a vital part of the team who contributes lessons and support for her fellow teachers on campus. Haley is a wonderful Ed Tech star!"
