How Does Educational Technology Play a Role in Your Classroom?
Technology plays a major role in my classroom varying from classroom management to
creating engaging lessons. I'm a bit of a tech queen, so everything I do is
technology. I use Edpuzzle to show videos of the concepts we are reading about
that week. When introducing background information, Peardeck is a great
assistant for keeping my students engaged with questions embedded in the
slides.
How Do You Find Technology in the Classroom Helpful?
I find technology in the classroom helpful in helping my students stay engaged. The internet is a vast place full of innovative programs created by teachers (and in some cases former students!). Our world is ever-changing and having the ability to teach my students technology skills that can impact their lives is the best teaching practice I can have.
What Is Your Favorite Piece of Classroom Technology? Why?
My favorite piece of technology in my classroom is the iPads. We can run many
different programs on them, and the students have many creative options to
complete assignments. My students have created video games, storyboards,
videos, and multimedia projects all from their iPads.
What Is On Your Technology Wish List For Your Classroom? Why?
My main technology wish list is a classroom set of stylus pens for the iPads and
charging ports for them. We do so much annotating, and my students would be
able to create and read notes easier by writing in a stylus pen rather than
their finger which leads to messy illegible notes.
What Do You Love Most About Teaching?
I love teaching because I get to come to work every day and be with my students.
I have my students for at least 2 years and get to see them grow and mature in
high school. I am so proud of all their work learning English and how life
functions in America.
What is one thing you would like to add to your tech wish list?
15 Stylus Pens would be amazing
