What Do You Teach?
I am currently teaching English I-IV.
Where Do you Teach?
I am at Lee High School.
How Long Have You Been Teaching?
This is my 17th year teaching.
How Does Educational Technology Play a Role in Your Classroom?
Educational technology allows me to make learning accessible and
engaging for every type of learner, regardless of their learning style or
level. For visual learners, I incorporate images, charts, and videos. For
auditory learners, I use recordings and multimedia lessons. For kinesthetic
learners, I design interactive digital activities that allow them to manipulate
and explore concepts hands-on.
Technology also helps me meet students’ accommodations discreetly
and effectively, ensuring instruction is individualized and equitable.
Ultimately, it allows me to create a flexible and inclusive learning
environment where all students can thrive.
How Do You Find Technology in the Classroom
Helpful?
Technology has transformed the way I teach and how my students
learn. It allows me to implement individual accommodations seamlessly, provide
immediate feedback, and reduce grading time. More importantly, it empowers my
students.
During class discussions, students can quickly research topics,
clarify vocabulary, or find examples in real time. Technology also helps reduce
anxiety and improve collaboration, especially for students who may feel
intimidated by traditional group work. Additionally, I use digital tools to
teach organization and self-advocacy skills, helping students take ownership of
their learning.
What Is Your Favorite Piece of Classroom Technology?
Why?
I have several favorites, but if I had to choose, I would say
Clips. It allows my students to record their writing, which supports them
during the revising and editing process by helping them hear and evaluate their
own work. I also love Padlet for collaboration, and Blooket and Wayground
(formerly Quizizz) for engaging review activities. These tools make learning
interactive, fun, and effective.
What Is On Your Technology Wish List For Your Classroom?
Why?
A wireless document camera is at the top of my wish list. Many of
my students are visual learners, and having a wireless camera would allow me to
move freely around the classroom while still projecting my work or
demonstrations onto the board. This flexibility would enhance engagement and
allow me to connect with students more effectively during lessons.
What Do You Love Most About Teaching?
I love teaching because it allows me to equip students with a
variety of tools they can use to build their own futures. I focus on teaching
strategies that apply not only across different subjects but also in everyday
life. Helping students discover their strengths and empowering them with
lifelong learning skills is what I find most rewarding about being an educator.
