Gander Week at a Glance 9-11-20
09/21/2020

Gander Families!
I hope everyone had a productive 1st week of school. I know virtual learning can be difficult for both our students and teachers, but we are trying our best to ensure our students are receiving top notch instruction and engaging lessons.

We have two more weeks of 100% virtual school. It is important that students are logging into their synchronous classes every morning so they are not counted absent and they do not fall behind in their classes. In the afternoon, students need to login to their asynchronous classes to complete assignments to count for attendance and credit.

As we proceed with virtual learning through September 28, 2020,  teachers will begin recording online instruction sessions in order to make classes available to students who are absent or temporarily lose access to online learning. If you are not comfortable with your student’s image being recorded for this limited purpose, please contact your student’s teacher. Students will still be required to participate via audio and/or chat features.

iPad Distribution

Most students that need one, have picked up their iPads this week. If you are still in need of an iPad, please make sure you have filled out the online application and contact the school at 281420-4535 to arrange your pick up time.

No Internet or Bad Connection

If you do not have internet service or your service has a bad connection, you can use WiFi connections at different businesses in the area or park on campus in the parking lot by the water side or by the field house to use the school/district WiFi.

Visitors

Visitors will not be allowed on campus. All questions should be routed to the correct office. We will have additional staff available to answer calls to assist with any questions you may have. With the large volume of calls we are anticipating, please be patient and someone will be with you as soon as possible to help.

Schedule Changes

There will not be any schedule changes unless you have one of the following concerns:
• You are scheduled for a class you have already taken • You have a hole in your schedule without a class
If you have one of the above concerns, please contact your grade level counselor by phone 281420-4535 or email at:
• 9th Grade: Mrs. Pitre, shaunice.pitre@gccisd.net

• 10th Grade:  o Last Names A-K: Mrs. Acreman, loretta.acreman@gccisd.net

o Last Names L-Z: Mrs. Kujawa, kimberly.kujawa@gccisd.net

• 11th Grade: Mrs. Kujawa, kimberly.kujawa@gccisd.net

• 12th Grade: Mrs. Acreman, loretta.acreman@gccisd.net

Attendance

Being present for all your classes is important whether the class is being offered Synchronously or Asynchronously. Failure to be present virtually on any given day could result in a failing grade or loss of credit, which could jeopardize meeting graduation requirements. Students who have not been in attendance in any of their classes this week are at risk of being withdrawn due to lack of attendance and will have to re-enroll.
