About Me

I have been in education for many years and at Austin Elementary for 8 years, first as a 5th grade teacher, then as the Family Involvement Coordinator and now as a counselor. I received a Bachelor’s Degree from West Texas A&M University and a Master's Degree from Lamar University. I have over 20 years of experience in education. I love working with our Austin Alligators to help them have success in academic achievement and personal/social development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

Elementary School Counseling Program

The elementary school counselor will use the ASCA National Model which provides a flexible framework to develop a comprehensive program designed to meet students' unique needs.

The 4 components of delivery for these services are:

  • School counseling core curriculum
  • Individual student planning
  • Responsive services
  • Indirect student services

Character Strong

Developing good character is an on-going process at Austin Elementary. The Character Strong curriculum uses a holistic approach weaving together social-emotional learning and character education into our daily lives.
