Mrs. Smith obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Sam Houston State University and her Master’s Degree from Lamar University. She began her teaching career in 2003 in her hometown of Newton, Texas where she taught 6th Grade World Cultures and 7th Grade Texas History. In 2005 she began her tenure with Goose Creek CISD where she taught 8th Grade American History at Highlands Junior for 15 years. She moved from the classroom to high school Social Studies Instructional Coach, District Secondary ESL Specialist, and now administration. Throughout her educational career, she’s been awarded Campus Teacher of the Year, Campus ESL Teacher of the Year, and GCCISD Education Foundation Students Choice Award recipient.
