Faith Smith-Chew graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor is Sociology. Through the collaboration of University of St. Thomas and Region IV Education Service Center, I completed my certification in Generic Special Education in 2003. I obtained a Master of Education with a concentration in Educational Administration from the University of St. Thomas in 2009. I taught 11 years at Robert E. Lee High School and was the Girls Head Track & Field Coach and Cross Country Coach. School year 2008-09, I was named Robert E. Lee Campus Teacher of the Year.
During the school year of 2008 -09, I completed GCCISD Aspiring Administrator’s Academy. In the school year 2010 – 11, I received the Becker Thomson Award for Special Education Excellence in GCCISD. In 2013, I transitioned to Highlands Junior School and was the Campus Behavior Teacher. In 2018, I became one of the district’s Behavior Specialist and had an opportunity to work with all grade levels.
In 2019, I became the Student Support Administrator of POINT Alternative Center and now I am the Assistant Principal. My strength has always been in working with adolescents. I enjoy working with the population that society feels as if there is no hope. Since given this opportunity to work at POINT, I truly know that I am where I am supposed to be at this moment in my life. I enjoy letting students know that bad choices does not determine their outcome or future. They still have opportunities and here at POINT, we work with the holistic child.
