Celebrating Hispanic Heritage at DZ!
10/14/2024

October 14, 2024 by Nathan Malonson

As Hispanic Heritage month comes to a close, De Zavala Elementary wanted to celebrate and appreciate the hispanic culture. Many things were done around the school and we would like to highlight them.

The Community Engagement Committee at DZE worked together to create a Hispanic Heritage Event. This program featured performances from the DZ Drumline, the DZ Dance Team, and presentations from Ms. Rodriguez's 4th and 5th Grade Students. There were also booths with various foods and activities hosted by various DZ teachers. The night ended with a couple of rounds of Loteria in which the winners of the games were rewarded a gift card. The night was a success and people left with smiling faces. We would like to thank all of the students, parents, and teachers that came out to the event and showed their support.

In addition to the program, our morning announcements feature a Daily Fun Fact segment. This segment featured a Hispanic Heritage fun fact all throughout the month. Alongside these fun things, every grade level hallway was decorated for Hispanic Heritage Month. Bulletin Boards and ceilings were decorated with flags, important figures in hispanic heritage, and more. We also had dress-up days for students and teachers.
