About Me

This school year is my 16th year in education.  I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in Clear Lake in Early Childhood Education with an EC-6th grade certification with English as a Second Language. I taught for nine years in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade classrooms at various schools around the district. I then went back to school to get my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.  At that time, I started as an ELA Campus Instructional Specialist at Carver Elementary, where I stayed for two years. To continue my growth in leadership, I was the Student Support Administrator at Highland’s Elementary School for one year. I am now the proud Assistant Principal at De Zavala Elementary School where I have served for the past three years.

I am a product of Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District.  I attended Bowie Elementary my kindergarten year, Stephen F. Austin for 1st-5th grades, Gentry Jr. High, and graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my 24-year-old daughter, who has decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps of becoming a teacher herself this year.  I also enjoy shopping, traveling, spending time with friends, and working in the flowerbeds.

De Zavala parents, students, staff, and community have become a family to me where I desire to continue to grow as an administrator and strive to always build positive relationships. Every day that I have the privilege of seeing our students puts an enormous smile on my face and fulfills my heart.
