De Zavala Elementary is going on a journey this year! We are incorporating the Ron Clark Academy House system to create a climate and culture that is inclusive, positive, and supportive for both staff and students.

Every staff member and student at DZ will be sorted into four different houses that represent a trait of a dolphin. Each house will combine students, teachers, and staff from every grade level and department. Our staff already has their house and soon students will know which house they belong to. To determine their house, students will participate in a Slide Day also known as Sorting Day that will end with them finding out which house they belong to.

Throughout the school year, students will participate in a wide variety of activities with their house. Each house has a specific color scheme, motto, chant, crest, and hand gesture. Students will have many opportunities to earn points for their house to win the spirit stick or House Cup Award. Stay tuned for how you can help as well.
