About Me

Welcome all to Ashbel Smith Elementary!

I have been in the education field for 16 years. I have 11 years of teaching experience and five years of counseling experience. I earned my bachelor’s degree of Science in Human Services from the University of Phoenix, and my master’s degree in School Counseling from Texas A&M.

I have been married for 29 years to my childhood sweetheart and we have two daughters. My oldest is in the education field and my youngest is currently attending College of the Mainland to become a nurse. I love working with children and helping the community.

I strive to help our students achieve success in life, all academic areas, and to promote the importance of lifelong learning. I look forward to working with our students and their families this year!

The four components of delivery for these services are:

Character Traits
Our character traits are Kindness, Courage, Cooperation, Empathy, Respect, Perseverance, Honesty, Responsibility, Gratitude, Creativity. Each month teachers nominate students within their classrooms to be recognized for exhibiting these character traits. Those nominated by their teacher are recognized at our character lunch held at the end of each month.
