About Me

Welcome to the Highlands Elementary Library!

Hi!

My name is Kaley Mitchell. I've been in education since August 2011. I have loved spending the last 10 years in Goose Creek CISD! I was an English teacher for 8 years before becoming a librarian in 2019. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and with my Masters in Library and Information Studies from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

I am a proud wife to my husband, Joseph and proud mother to our five children and one fur baby. We love to go on trips, livestock shows, and spend family time together.

Being a librarian was always my dream job, and I am so excited to be your librarian at Highlands Elementary!

Students will join us in the library weekly to exchange books. They are allowed to check-out two books per visit. It is the teacher's discretion in 1st & 2nd grade if they bring their books home or leave them at school. If your child brings their books home, please help them make sure they are put safely in their backpack when not in use and return them promptly on their library days.
