About Mrs. Start
Kelley Start is a native Baytownian and product of GCCISD. After graduating from Sterling HS, she attended the University of Texas at Austin while going to Lee College in the summer and winter classes. She graduated with a degree in finance within three years and began working at a large law firm. She quickly discovered her passion for teaching and received her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University. Mrs. Start has spent her entire twenty-two-year career in Goose Creek CISD. She served as a CTE teacher and Sterling Stars dance director at Sterling High School. She took over the Peer Assistance Leadership program while also teaching Career Preparation, where she served on the CTE leadership team. During this time, Mrs. Start was awarded the GCCISD Education Foundation Student Choice Award and RSS Teacher of the Year.
After 16 years at RSS, Mrs. Start made the move into administration becoming the CTE Specialist over the Global Business Academy at Goose Creek Memorial where she worked diligently to help the program receive model status through the National Career Academy Coalition. She served in that role for 3 years before moving to assistant principal over special programs and testing.
Mrs. Start is married to a fellow native Baytownian and has two beautiful children that attend GCCISD schools
