About Mrs. Ricks

My name is Alice Ricks.  I am the school counselor at Point Alternative Center.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Benjamin Banneker Honors College at Prairie View A& M University.  I later graduated from Lamar University with a Master of Education in Counseling and Development.  During the pursuit of my counseling degree, I worked as a milieu counselor, a counselor intern, a psychometrician, a teacher, and a tutor in various facilities.  In 2011, I received my School Counselor Certification.

My journey in education began in January 1992 as a special education clerk in Anahuac ISD.  I later became a special education teacher, school bus driver, freshman girls’ athletic coach and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Advisor.

In 1996, my adventure in education led me to Goose Creek CISD.  These past 24 years I have been a special education teacher, educational diagnostician, and counselor for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students.  In 2018, I became the counselor at Point. During the next school year, I was honored as a GCCISD Giant Educator for the month of November.

I enjoy opportunities to work with staff and students at Point. My goal is that students leave Point sensing that connections were made, relationships were established, and motivations were encouraged to assist them in making better choices in the future.
