Art has been the focus of Ms. Watson's 22 year teaching career, 6 years in elementary, 16 years at RSS. In addition to art, Ms. Watson has also taught photography, floral design, and Dual Credit Art Appreciation. She sponsors the National Art Honor Society and the Crochet Club, though she has not yet learned to crochet. AP students art students, under the direction of Ms. Watson, score in the global range. Additionally, Art students of Ms. Watson, Mrs. McDonald and Ms. Barriga, advance to state, make the rodeo auction, and win Scholastic Art Gold and Silver Keys, as well as honorable mention in competition. Ms. Watson is a graduate of Ross S. Sterling High School, Lee College, Texas State University, and completed a master study program at the University of Florida. She loves her cats, sports - especially baseball - ASTROS, shoes, everything art, and reading.

Congratulations to the Ranger Artists who competed in Regional VASE, (Visual Arts Scholastic Event), at Dobie High School on Saturday, February 22. A total of 1756 pieces were submitted from the Houston 4 East Region. Forty-seven Sterling students competed with 78 pieces of artwork. They earned 50 medals, with three students advancing to the State level.

- Nayeli Perez, 11th Grade, Division 4, Teacher: Annie Watson
- Meghan Griffin, 10th Grade Division 2, Teacher: Darcy McDonald
These three Ranger artists will compete against top student artist from the entire state of Texas at State VASE in Sam Marcos, April 25-26.
