About Mrs. Truesdale

Hi! I am Diana Truesdale, librarian at Crockett Elementary. I have been with GCCISD since 2004 and taught at Tomball ISD 2 years prior to that. I have taught 2nd-4th grade before becoming a librarian. I also worked with the GCCISD Educational Technology Department for two years. I look forward to a great school year! Library Catalog: Destiny Discover

Destiny Discover is the place to find eBooks (electronic books) to read on your device! Crockett students can check out up to 5 eBooks at a time. eBooks are returned automatically after 7 days. However, if a student is not done reading a particular book, he/she may check it out again for another 7-day period. 

 

To access the library catalog:

1. Students log into their Class Link account or go to the ClassLink app on their iPad 

a. Username - ID Number (this can be found in the Parent Portal(opens external link in new window))

  b. Password - 8-digit birthday

2. Select the Destiny Discover tile. It will log in your child automatically.

3. Once your child checks out a book, go to My Stuff > Checkouts to continue reading the book. 

4. While browsing eBooks, look for the section at the bottom of the homepage called "Lightbox Books". These books focus on various science-related topics and have interactive features such as videos, slideshows, maps, and more!

Sterling Municipal Library

Visit Baytown's public library!

Sterling Municipal Library is located at 1 Mary Wilbanks Avenue in Baytown. It is a fabulous library with a wide selection of books for all ages. All you need is a library card. Simply take your Texas ID to the library to sign up with a librarian.

 

Looking for a particular book? Try searching with their online catalog! Find both books and eBooks that are available through the library. Once you have created a free account and have a library card, you can reserve books. They will pull the books for you and notify you when they are ready to be picked up! You can even place a hold on eBooks. To access the catalog, click the link below.

  • Did you know that in addition to checking out books at Sterling Municipal Library, you can also check out eBooks and nseDragSource,W17881,1,2,28 audiobooks? The library uses 2 apps: Axis 360 and Libby. Read or listen to books right from your device!

     

    To access these books, a grownup will either need a library card or a digital library card.  

    1. Full-service library card - Simply go to Sterling Municipal Library with your TX ID and sign up! It is free and easy to do!

    2. Digital Library Card - You can apply for one right from the comfort of your own home!

  • Need something new to read? Check out their new books using the link below! There is something for all ages.   • BookFlix is a collection of eBooks offered by the district for GCCISD students. It pairs a fiction story in video format with a nonfiction companion eBook. Each pair of books has additional content such as Meet the Author, games, related websites, and more! Many books are offered in Spanish.

     

    To access BookFlix:

    1. Students will log into their ClassLink account

    2. Select the GC Library Resources folder

    3. Select the BookFlix tile

    4. It will automatically log your child in!

  • TumbleBooks is a collection of eBooks offered by the district for GCCISD students. There are a variety of books in various formats. Some books are videos, while others are traditional eBooks. The books range across all grade levels. 

     

    To access TumbleBooks:

    1. Students will log into their ClassLink account

    a. Username - ID Number (this can be found in the Parent Portal)

      b. Password - 8-digit birthday

    2. Select the GC Library Resources folder

    3. Select the BookFlix tile

  • Epic Books has been nicknamed the "Netflix of Books"! It is a fantastic place to find thousands of eBooks, audio books, videos, and more! Please note that access to this website/app requires a subscription.

Internet Use Position Statement

 

The library program encourages the use of subscription databases as the primary option for research but recognizes the use of other research tools as a secondary option when the subscription databases is not able to meet individual needs.

 

Mission Statement

 

The mission of David Crockett Elementary library is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and to promote a lifelong love of literature by maintaining a quality collection of age appropriate resources as well as to provide opportunities for students to achieve their personal best and become productive citizens that embrace learning.

It is the goal and vision of Crockett Elementary School's Library Program to:

 

  • Provide an attractive, welcoming environment.
  • Provide a well-organized and comprehensive collection that meets the needs of all stakeholders.
