Halloween! On Monday, October 31, students may dress up for Halloween. Costumes need to be within school dress code guidelines. No masks, no full-face paint, and no replica weapons or other props deemed inappropriate for school.
Key Club: Do you enjoy giving back to the community? Would you like to join a club with many opportunities for service hours? If so, then please come to the Key Club meeting on Tuesday, November 1, before school in room E212 or after school in the Library to learn more!
HOSA Blood Drive: The Fall Blood Drive will be Wednesday, October 26, in the auxiliary gym. Help save the lives of 3 people by donating blood. Sign up for a spot using one of the QR codes posted around the school. You must be at least 16 years old, weight at least 120 lbs., and have a signed parent permission form. Pick up a form in W109. See Mrs. Cheshire (W109) or Mr. Jackson (W102) with any questions.
Lady Patriots Basketball Tryouts: Tryouts will be Wednesday, October 26, 3:15-4:30 p.m. for all Freshman and Thursday, October 27, 3:15-4:30 p.m. for 10th-12th grades. You MUST have an up to date physical and complete the Rank One paperwork to try out. If you have any questions, please see Coach Price, Coach Perry, or Coach Hunter.
Boys Basketball Tryouts: Tryouts will be held on Saturday, October 29, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. Anyone planning to participate must have a physical on file. In order to try out, each student must be in Good Academic Standing. Please arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. for check-in.
Boys Basketball Managers: We are also looking for student managers. Some responsibilities include: stat tracking for practices and games, filming away games, and running the clock. Any student interested in this opportunity, please see Coach Haymon or Coach Mack in the Coaches' Office after school.
TSA: Blue candy boxes and Welches fruit snacks are here. Check out a box in SW210.
TSA Regional Leadership: Members attending the Regional Leadership Conference on Saturday, October 29, must pick up their permission slip from Mrs. James in room SW210. Meet with Mrs. James in the front circle by 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, October 29.
AVID/United Way "Days of Caring": We will be hosting a canned food drive through October 31. Classes are invited to compete for the most donations. The class with the most donations gets a pizza party! You can also donate during all three lunches on October 31. Look for the AVID Food Drive table! All donations should be turned in to room W242 by Monday, October 31.
The SpongeBob Musical: Performances are Friday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 5th at 2:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 each. It's gonna be the Best Day Ever with SpongeBob, Patrick, and the whole gang!
Girls Soccer Tryouts: Soccer season is a month away! If you are not currently in the Girls Soccer athletic period but you are interested in trying out, there is a mandatory information meeting on Tuesday, November 1, at 3:30 p.m. in Coach Huizar's classroom SW209. You must attend this meeting in order to tryout.
Christmas Toy Drive! The GCM Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is holding a Christmas Toy Drive for local children and is asking for new, unwrapped toys. 1 service hour will be awarded for every $5 worth of toys. Toys can be dropped off in room W124 and are due by Tuesday, December 13.
Food Truck Friday! Our first Food Truck Friday is going to be Friday, December 2. Starting next Monday, October 24, through Friday, November 25, you cannot have any tardies, behavior issues (including ISS, and/or unexcused absences.
FBLA: GCM's Future Business Leaders of America Chapter will have its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 2, in Mrs. Jones' room W120 from 3:20-4:15 p.m. It's time to sign up for Area competitions and plan more season events. See you there!
GSA: The next meeting of the Gay-Straight Alliance will be on Thursday, November 3, in the Library immediately after school. We will be making ribbons and buttons in preparation for the GSA Day for Gender Justice on Nov. 11. Bring a friend!
