About Ms. Lathan
Hello Patriot Family,
My name is Rachel Lathan and I am so excited to be a Patriot! I have been a school nurse for GCCISD since 2018. Prior to school nursing, my background included critical care, cardiac ICU, ER, and Telemetry. I absolutely love being a nurse and helping other people. While on campus, your student's health is my priority. Please help keep our campus healthy by reviewing the following information.
I encourage you to send your child to school daily. In order for students to perform at their best, they should be well rested, eat healthy balanced meals and practice healthy habits. We work diligently to keep all students safe and healthy during the school day. Please help us to keep all our students safe and healthy by keeping your child home if he/she is displaying symptoms of illness. This will help to prevent the spread any infection or illness amongst our students.
Students should be kept at home for the following reasons:
- Temperature of 100 degrees or above within the past 24 hours
- Diarrhea and/or vomiting more than once within the past 24 hours
- Red eye with drainage
- Ringworm on the scalp
- Intense itching with open lesions or signs of secondary infection
- Open lesions that are draining
- Undetermined rash
Any student who has a temperature of 100 degrees or above should remain at home for at least 24 hours free of fever without the benefit of Tylenol or Motrin before returning to school, unless a physician’s statement indicating otherwise is presented.
