About Mrs. Start
Mrs. Kelley Start is a native Baytownian and has dedicated her entire twenty-three-year career to Goose Creek CISD, serving in roles that have significantly impacted students, staff, and programs. At Sterling High School, she excelled as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher and Sterling Stars dance director. She later led the Peer Assistance Leadership (PAL) program and Career Preparation courses, earning the GCCISD Education Foundation Student Choice Award and the honor of Sterling High School Teacher of the Year.
Transitioning into administration, Mrs. Start became the CTE Specialist over the Global Business Academy at Goose Creek Memorial, where her leadership helped the program achieve model status through the National Career Academy Coalition. She later served as Assistant Principal over Special Programs and Testing, ensuring students' success across diverse initiatives. Most recently, she led Stuart Career Tech High School as principal, cultivating a culture of achievement and innovation.
Mrs. Start brings a unique blend of passion, experience, and commitment to her role as principal of Goose Creek Memorial High School. She is dedicated to promoting academic success, supporting staff, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for all students. Mrs. Start is married to Zachary Start and has two children who attend GCCISD schools.
