About Mrs. Hoy
Alice Hoy is the College and Career Counselor for Goose Creek Memorial High School. She has been in education for 29 years, serving as a counselor for 9 years. She received her Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Journalism from Texas A&M University. After getting married and starting a family, Mrs. Hoy returned to college to earn a teaching certification through Stephen F. Austin State University. She is certified to teach English, journalism, speech, and earned her Masters of Education in School Counseling at Lamar University.
Mrs. Hoy began her teaching career in Huffman ISD, where she taught for nine years. She also served as the cheerleading coach and yearbook adviser at Hargrave High School. After a few years at Channelview ISD, Mrs. Hoy made her way to Crosby ISD where she continued her career for 18 years.
Mrs. Hoy served in various capacities in and out of the classroom at Crosby High School. She taught yearbook, speech, journalism, English, SAT/ACT prep, and AVID. Mrs. Hoy was named as Career & Technical Education Coordinator for the high school, AVID lead teacher, and coached the UIL journalism team for eight years (2012 - 4A State Champions). As the first College & Career Counselor in Crosby ISD, Mrs. Hoy opened the Next Level Center, a college and career center, and served as the dual credit coordinator/counselor for the district.
As the current Goose Creek Memorial High School College/Career Counselor, Mrs. Hoy prepares students for their path after high school. She routinely visits with classes to educate students about college options and career opportunities. She is also in charge of the dual credit programs at GCM, coordinates scholarships for students, and coordinates college readiness and placement exams. Mrs. Hoy is passionate about helping students discover their path in life and believes that passions can lead to careers, once discovered. Her goal is to ensure all GCMHS students graduate with a plan for a successful future.
On a personal note, Mrs. Hoy has been married to her husband, Steve, for 36 years. They have three sons, a daughter-in-law, and one grandson. She loves to travel, shop, volunteer, and spend time with her family.
