GCM Worldstrides Spirit Night at Texas Roadhouse on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 4:00-10:00 p.m. Tell them you are there for spirit night and 10% of the earnings will be donated to GCM Worldstrides. Help us explore the world!

 

GCM 21st Blood Drive: Thank you to everyone who signed up to donate on Wednesday, Feb. 21. It is VERY IMPORTANT for donors to remember:

  • Eat a good meal the night before and a hearty breakfast the day of. You will NOT be allowed to donate if you have not eaten.
  • Donors should drink lots of fluids and get a good night's sleep.
  • All 16 & 17 year olds must have signed permission forms. Students may still volunteer. Forms may be picked up in W102.
  • Bring a picture ID - your school ID will be accepted.

There is NO replacement for blood when it is needed. Thank you for being someone's hero! 

 



 

Cheerleading: There will be a mandatory meeting for students interested in trying out for GCM cheerleader or mascot for the 2018-19 school year on Thursday, March 1st, at 6:00 p.m. in the competition gym. A parent or guardian must attend this meeting along with the student. For more information, contact Mrs. Nancy Jacobs in room 411.

 

Crime Stoppers Jail-Break Run: Crime Stoppers participating in the run on Saturday please note the new meeting location: Pruitt and Gulf Street by 6:30 a.m.

 

Dazzlers: There will be a mandatory meeting for students interested in trying out for GCM Dazzlers or JV Charms for the 2018-19 school year on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. A parent or guardian must attend this meeting along with the student. Tryout packets are available in the GCM Main Office of Dance Office. For more information, contact Ms. Coy and Mrs. Yepez in the Dance Office room 504.

 

AP Exams: If you are interested in taking an AP exam and have not filled out an order form, see Mrs. Haggerty in the College &Career Center.

 

2018-2019 Dual Credit: If you are interested in Dual Credit for next school year, make sure you:

  • complete the Apply Texas application
  • complete the Pre-Assessment Activity through Lee College
  • stop by the College & Career Center to get your name on the TSIA testing list

Attendance Recovery opportunity: On Thursday, Feb. 22, 5:30-7:30 p.m., GCM will host a presentation on Teen Dating. Parent are encouraged to come and, if you need attendance recovery, this will qualify as 4 hours toward your time. Please speak to your Assistant Principal or pick up a flyer in the sophomore office with more details. You can also see social worker Ms. Gallegos or Communities in Schools case managers Mrs. Dooley or Mrs. Hodge for more details.

 

Gay/Straight Alliance: The next meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 21, after school in SW205. Come where everybody's wanted and everyone is welcome.

 

Student Council: There will be a meeting on Monday, Feb. 26, after school in SW113. We will meet quickly and then take our yearbook photo. Please make sure you have paid your dues to officially become a TRUCO member and receive your STUCO t-shirt. Only students who have paid their dues will be in the yearbook photo.

Friends Helping Friends is in place to prevent suicide abuse, dating violence, human trafficking, cyber bullying, and to help students in crisis who may be pregnant or homeless.
