Blood Drive: GCM's 26th Patriot Blood Drive will take place on  Wednesday, Sept. 25, during periods 1-5 in the Auxiliary Gym. Students who wish to donate may sign up this week through Thursday during all lunches at the Blood Drive table. Anyone age 16 or older may donate, but all 16 & 17 year olds must have a signed parent consent form. The minimum weight limit is 122 pounds. Each donor will be given a Commit for Life t-shirt or you can opt for a TOE-tolly awesome pair of Commit for Life socks. Thanks you for being someone's hero! Each donation can save 3 lives!

 

Gay-Straight Alliance: Our first meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 18, after school in the Library. We will be discussing goals for the year. The purpose of the club is to provide support for the LGBTQ community here at GCM. Come to the meeting and bring a friend and ally. This organization is for everyone! Everyone is Wanted, Everyone is Welcome!

 

Register to Vote! September 24th is National Voter Registration Day! Be a responsible citizen; have your voice heard. If you are 18 and over (or will be by the November 5th election day), come by Ms. Lisbony's room SW205 and register to vote. It's free! It's simple! You will be glad you did!

 

ASVAB: Are you thinking about going into the military after high school? The College & Career Center will be offering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test on October 17, 2019, during the school day. Please find the QR Code posted on Main Street or stop into the College & Career Center to sign up. This test is free.

 

Edgenuity for Seniors: If you are behind on credits and need time in Edgenuity, please take advantage of this opportunity. The Library will be open on Friday, September 20, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday, September 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sign up with the secretary in your alpha office.

 

UIL Literary Criticism: Do you love to read? Are you interested in history? Do you like a challenge? Become a LIT CRITTER! Learn literary history. Develop your critical thinking skills. Compete against other schools. Become a better writer. Join us on Tuesdays in Ms. Stav's room W220 beginning Tuesday, Sept. 17.

 

FFA Members: You are invited to the GCM FFA's first annual Welcome Back Tailgate Party! Bring your family and come out to enjoy food, games, music, and more on Saturday, September 28, 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the cafeteria parking lot. We can't wait to see you all there!
